Welcome to Bangkok! This 5-day journey begins right in the city — meet your private English-speaking guide at our group hotel in the heart of Bangkok (the exact hotel and meeting time arrive with your travel documents). The rest of the day is yours to settle in and relax before the journey begins.
A full day among Bangkok's royal icons — the glittering Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple, and the immense Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho — followed by the colour of the city's Flower Market and historic old quarter.
Begin at the Maeklong Railway Market, where vendors sweep their stalls aside as the train passes through, then glide among the paddle boats of the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. In the afternoon, continue to the River Kwai — stand on the famous Bridge on the River Kwai, take in the moving exhibits of the JEATH War Museum, and settle into your riverside resort as evening falls over the water.
Reflect at the moving Hellfire Pass Memorial, then ride a scenic stretch of the historic Death Railway along the River Kwai. Continue to ancient Ayutthaya — once among the world’s great cities — for golden-hour exploring at Wat Mahathat, home of the famous Buddha head entwined in tree roots, and the three sacred spires of Wat Phra Si Sanphet.
A final morning of royal history — the elegant Bang Pa-In Summer Palace and riverside Wat Chaiwatthanaram — before your transfer to Bangkok Airport and the end of your services.
You’ll stay in handpicked hotels — mostly 4- to 5-star, well-located and full of local character — plus a few one-of-a-kind nights some journeys are famous for, like a riverside lodge or an overnight sleeper train, always called out on the itinerary.
