Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1USA – Thailand

Your journey begins — depart the USA on your overnight flight across the Pacific. Sit back, settle in and cross the International Date Line while you sleep; the Kingdom is waiting on the other side.

Day 2Arrive in Bangkok

Welcome to Thailand! On arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport you're met by your private English-speaking guide and transferred to your 4-star hotel in the heart of Bangkok. Settle in and relax, then gather for a warm evening orientation over welcome drinks as your guide walks you through the journey ahead.

Day 3Bangkok by River & Rail

Discover Bangkok the slow way — the Grand Palace and riverside temples by morning, then a longtail boat through the canals, setting the rhythm for a journey defined by trains, boats and unhurried travel.

Day 4Floating Market & Old Town

Visit the Damnoen Saduak floating market by boat, then wander Bangkok's old quarters and riverside lanes, with a free afternoon to relax before the journey heads west.

Day 5River Kwai & Death Railway

Travel to Kanchanaburi for the journey's first great rail experience — ride the historic Death Railway across the Bridge over the River Kwai, with the war cemetery and museum, and an overnight beside the river.

Day 6Ayutthaya by Rail

Continue to Ayutthaya, the UNESCO former capital, for a day among its royal ruins and prangs — the perfect prelude to tonight's great northbound train.

Day 7The Overnight Train North

Board the legendary overnight sleeper train from the central plains toward Chiang Mai — watch the countryside slide by from your berth, dine on board, and drift to sleep to the rhythm of the rails.

Day 8Arrive Chiang Mai

Wake to the northern hills as your train pulls into Chiang Mai. Settle into your Old City hotel and recover at leisure, then ease into the city with an evening at the Night Bazaar.

Day 9Chiang Mai & Doi Suthep

Explore the Lanna capital — mountaintop Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the Old City's ancient temples, and the craft villages of San Kamphaeng — at the relaxed pace of slow travel.

Day 10North to the Golden Triangle

Travel north toward Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle, visiting the dazzling White Temple en route and arriving at the storied meeting point of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

Day 11Mekong River Cruise

Board a boat for a cruise along the Mekong on the Thai–Lao border — drifting past riverbank villages, lush banks and slow river life on one of Southeast Asia's great waterways.

Day 12Mekong Region & Slow Travel

Explore the Mekong region at an unhurried pace — local markets, hill scenery and riverside communities — the slow-travel heart of the journey, far from the well-trodden trail.

Day 13Return to Chiang Mai

A scenic return journey to Chiang Mai through the northern hills, with time to relax and a final evening among the city's temples, cafes and markets.

Day 14Chiang Mai at Leisure

A relaxed final full day — optional cooking class, spa, or last-minute crafts — followed by a farewell dinner celebrating a journey measured in trains, boats and rivers rather than miles.

Day 15Departure

After a final northern breakfast, your private transfer takes you to the airport, where your guide sees you off — home-bound after a singular slow-travel adventure across Thailand.

You’ll stay in handpicked hotels — mostly 4- to 5-star, well-located and full of local character — plus a few one-of-a-kind nights some journeys are famous for, like a riverside lodge or an overnight sleeper train, always called out on the itinerary.
